“What’s your name again? I don’t remember your name.” and then I said, “Oh no! Wait, I don’t think we’ve met before.” Who would of known that those first few words that first time she saw him would lead her here to this day… Fast forward two years and they are already planning their forever. I have the pleasure of capturing their love story and I couldn’t be happier with how well we match. During their engagement session even though we were all very very tired from waking up at an ungodly hour to make it to the beach on time, we all had a big smile on our face, found enough energy to battle the bugs and walk all around the area. I was happy to watch how easygoing they were and they were happy just enjoying each others company. My mom came along to keep me company and so did her mom and sister and they all found joy in each other’s company as well. It was one of the sweetest engagement sessions I have shot in a while. I can’t wait until October when we get to do this all over again. Yeni shared with me bits and pieces of how they met and the proposal story so follow along:
“We both got invited to a get-together and I was with my friends dancing. After a while it was too hot and humid outside so some of us decided to go inside the house to get some AC 😂. One of my friends, which happens to be Javier’s cousin (didn’t know that until later) saw Javier sitting alone at a domino table and told us, “Hey, let’s play some domino.” So we played, and I’m usually very hyper plus I was drinking coke that night so imagine that. I came over to Javier and said “What’s your name again? I don’t remember your name.” and then I said “Oh no!Wait, I don’t think we’ve met before.” 🤦🏻 He looked at me, smiled and said, “My name is Javier.” That night on our way home I told my sister that I thought he seemed to be a good guy, quiet but funny. The following weekend we got invited to a RBC project. My sister and I got there early, and we were listening the instructions when a voice behind us said “Eh y aquí dejan entrar a cualquiera?” Javier was invited to the project too. Javier was working on my sisters team, and I was in another team doing rebar. During lunch time “he couldn’t find a seat” apparently the only empty spot was next to me. 😜 We talked and laughed, and after lunch we went back to work.”
“The next day, they put the ones who knew how to do rebar with the one who didn’t, and out of more than 15 volunteers, I was assigned to work with Javier, to teach him. We worked together for about seven hours, we talked, we laughed, and also took pictures. When we were about to leave, Javier asked me, “Do you want me to send you the pictures?” I knew he wanted my number, but just to make sure, I said “Nah! It’s ok, my sister has those pictures.” And YES! He wanted my number, so he asked straight up “Do you wanna give me your number anyways?” I smiled and said, “Ok.” And that was the beginning of our love story 😁😍😊☺️🙃❤️❤️❤️❤️😁😍”
The reason the chose this beach in particular was because the day that Javier proposed he brought her here as a way to distract her from figuring out his plan. They walked the beach, the pier, the marina and then headed to another beach. A beach that had been perfectly set up with seaweed in the form of their initials and an anchor. On the base of the anchor was the little box ( which as you can tell in the picture above is no regular ring box ) in the shape of a clam with a pearl and the ring. Totally surprised, Javier pulled off her dream engagement and as she was telling me the story her eyes were just glowing. She still can’t believe he was able to pull this off without her figuring it out midway.
Yeni & Javier, I will see you in just a couple of months as we celebrate your marriage and another chapter in your love story. Thank you for choosing me, believing in me and trusting me to partake in this special time of your lives.
