On the foggiest of mornings, I set out very early to meet Adriana and Jonah for their wedding bridal session at Matheson Hammock Park. As I drove all I wished for was that it would clear in time for their photo session. Hoping and praying I hadn’t made everyone wake up so early for a rainy day. To my surprise once arriving, the fog was light enough to give us the kind of glow that would set the sky so perfectly for these images. It almost gave the illusion as if I had set up a white backdrop for them… I liked the fact that it was different from what I had shot there before. With Matheson Hammock being such a popular park, it may seem as if I am shooting in the same spots with the same light over and over, but not at all, it always finds a way to surprise me. Not long after we had the brightest of days and hence just the kind of weather we hope for on a sunrise shoot. Adriana and Jonah gracefully explored with me and talked to me about themselves. She shared her proposal story which went along a little like this:
“It was on a day right after coming home from work. I was tired and dirty and when I opened the door there were candles and flowers. He was playing the song, ‘Marry Me’ by Jason Derulo. There he stood smiling at me and in a second he got down on one knee and proposed. I said, Yes! and he opened the little box. But there wasn’t a ring. It was a chocolate truffle instead. So I took it in my hands and broke it apart thing the ring was inside. No ring. The funny thing is that it had been switched, so I had to keep eating a few truffles before finding it. It was the perfect proposal to celebrate the three years we had spent together. All along I always felt a connection with him and soon we will have many more memories to look back on as we become husband and wife.”
