Traditional Miami Lakes Wedding

Sometime after the reception had already started, Alexandra’s mom asked me, “Out of all the weddings you’ve shot and been to, what would you say about this one?” Right now I can’t remember everything I said, but this one in particular… I loved how much all the family was involved. This was a familiar wedding. Two families joined and they were all rejoicing right along the newlywed couple with lots of tears of happiness and joyous hearts. You may of recognized them from their previous engagement session we shot a while back when the wedding day seemed so far away… and how quickly it arrived.

Our day began in Alexandra’s home while she and all the lovely ladies in her life got ready together for the big day. Robert was still two hours away making his journey from Naples and we joked that maybe he needed a little space and time before the wedding. But alas he arrived and had a special surprise for Alex that all the while she did not know. You see friends, one of the things I advise my brides to have with them while they are getting ready is all their jewelry for the details shots. Alex had said that Robert wasn’t going to let her have all the rings for some unknown reason. We thought it strange and kept thinking, doesn’t he trust us with the rings even for just a few minutes? He had engraved the rings and wanted to be the first to show her. Such a sweet and thoughtful thing that once we all knew, it made total sense why he wanted to keep hold of them all along.

Their ceremony was held in their local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and the brother giving their matrimony talk was so enlightening and refreshing. It had been a while since I was able to fully listen to a wedding ceremony talk because of all sorts of reasons, but his was so warmhearted and memorable that I know Alex and Robert will not soon forget all the wonderful advice they received. Shortly after the day progressed to the party where they danced the night away with all their closest friends and family. My favorite part of the day was when the groom dedicated a song to all his family, the new one and the one he has already loved all along. They all got up to the dance floor together and huddled in a circle and kissed, hugged, sang and cried together. It made sense of who they truly are as a couple and a family and therefore set this forth as one to remember. Here are some highlights of their wedding day.

After the ceremony, Alexandra had planned for her immediate family to come along with her to the park for outdoor family portraits. They chose Amelia Earhart Park not only for it’s approximate location but also because Alexandra wanted that forest feel that is so difficult to find here in the Miami area.
