Hurricane Matthew

This is Matthew. He is more of a threat to our home than the storm that just passed on by. Thankfully, we were left without a scratch. Although I can’t say the same for many in other towns/countries, my heart goes out to all those families that are now suffering loss because of the hurricane. But for us, it just meant time together spent at home with loads of food I bought to keep us entertained. The boys are obsessed with anything that has to do with water, so given that the rain was gone I let them have at it in our yard. It’s amazing to compare photographs with the same clothes months apart… really shows you how much the kids have grown. These raincoats are one of my favorite things the boys have and I can’t wait to re-do these pictures we did when I first bought them. They fit them so incredibly big back then and look at Matthew now! I can’t stress enough that time just flies on by when you’re watching your children grow.

Later in the afternoon, I set out the tiny pool and just watched them play as their pull-up diapers inflated. They have such a blast outside. Watching them play is the perfect thing to do to disconnect from it all. They are so free and careless. They enjoy themselves so effortlessly over the smallest of pleasures. Watching them play in 5 inches of water makes me realize that their happiness doesn’t depend on the fancy toys we were to buy them, because truth be told they would probably be more interested in the packaging. Or whether they are having steak or scrambled eggs for dinner… kids or at least my kids, are simple. Give them a couple of boxes and they will be entertained for hours. This little pool… costs us 88 cents at Toys R Us last season. They would rather sit and splash around in this insignificant thing than play with any of the fancier toys D and I were so excited about buying them. It’s all in the little details my friends.

The beautiful weather this weekend was not to spent indoors caged. Instead we played outside and the next day I brought the boys over to the park along with the grandmas and those pictures I will be posting later on this week. Here’s a little sneak peek. Double dose of #twintuesday coming soon.

Speaking of sneak peeks, this also happens to be the park where the mini sessions will be held this upcoming weekend. I scouted the perfect little spots for each family and can’t wait to see what happens. There is still time to book you mini session!!  (register here) I hope you all have a wonderful week and thank you for always catching up with us and reading our blog. sign
