catching up with the Kennedys

Some days are filled with constant carrying. Your arms feel as if they are in an extended work-out that never ends. Life with three kids means something is always happening. School, swimming lessons, homework, diaper changes, grocery shopping, laundry… lots and lots of laundry. Not that I would personally know ( not yet anyways 🙂 ) but my friend Kristin has been doing this and more for the past three years. She will fool you into thinking its the easiest job in the world with her perfect hair and beautiful children. But now that I am in her shoes with the twins I know there is so much more beauty to being a mother than the cuddles and kisses I snap in photographs. There’s a feeling that I can’t quite describe in words. Every time I try to do so, I say something super corny.. and here it goes again:

It’s like your this chicken…(just go along with me on this) and for days you have been sitting on these eggs you hatched without so much as moving away for longer than a nearby worm break. You do everything you can to make sure nothing happens to those eggs. Come rain or shine you are faithfully on your nest. And on a sunny bright morning you start to feel them rumbling. Your babies are hatching. It’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to you. But you soon discover that your worries of keeping those eggs warm and safe have now quadrupled because once they arrive you have to feed them while still keeping a look out. You have to teach them how to feed themselves so they won’t starve as they grow. And you foremost and above all have to protect them from all the other animals that know your baby chicks are an easy prey. You turn into a SUPER chicken if anyone – and I mean anyone – tries to come near your babies or even worse, tries to pick them up because they think they are adorable. Those are your babies and along with that huge sense of responsibility comes an unmeasurable amount of love and devotion. They’re your eggs. Your baby chicks. Your chickens. And before you know it, you have another set of eggs to take care of again. Motherhood is like that – for all the mommas out there. Of course for us humans we have a lot more to do than chickens, but just as they would, we protect and love on our babies above all. Whatever it takes.

One of the greatest things about having a new website means I get to share past shoots that I really fell in love with. Being that these folks are my muse family, I will eventually catch up on sharing all the sessions we have ever done and continue to do so. That way you will all see what it’s like to have your family’s life’s journey photographed by non other than me. All the stages… all the little moments. The growths and the additions. Speaking of additions…

Kristin is pregnant!!

That on it’s own deserves a blog post. Haha! So incredibly happy that they will be welcoming baby #4 next year. The story continues… one more baby to bring joy and laughter into their warm home. One more to jump and cuddle in their bed. One more set of little feet to add to the back of a pick-up truck shot. I’m the nerdy gal over here already imagining a whole new set of ideas for the years to come. I’m totally with Lilly on this one and I hope the baby will be another Lilly baby. Lilly needs a sister of course! The following pictures were taken during the winter of 2014. Enjoy.
