beach date with Caleb

Some mornings I change my typical routine and wake up extra early to catch a sunrise. I get to witness it’s beauty along with my awesome clients that make the effort to wake up extra early as well. There’s nothing quite like watching a sunrise on the beach here in the east coast of Florida. When Julie approached me to book her family session she knew exactly where she wanted to shoot, at the beach. I think I’ll never grow tired of having those kinds of requests since I LOVE the beach so much. Come time for our session I walked outside my house still pitch dark and there was a cool breeze, something that I wasn’t sure how a baby would handle, but here I thought “man this is an awesome day to have a session, goodbye humidity!” Once meeting Julie and her family I immediately fell for her sweet son’s smile. He wouldn’t keep his eyes off of me or the camera and I pretty much was snap happy. Such a perfect morning with the Rios family. These are a few of my favorites of our time together:

After watching what a cuddly mom Julie is I pretty much took a step back and let her interact with Caleb without so much as saying a word. It was such a treat to watch and witness how much love they all shared.

Going into labor was very surreal to me…. I’d gone for my thirty-eight week regular check-up and my doctor told me the baby was coming that day. I said “What? No you’re kidding right?” Turns out my hypertension was out of control and before anything else could happen, this was the safer route to go. Just about two hours after, I was in the OR having a c-section, terrified, with my husband’s cold sweaty hand grabbing mine. We were both nervous and scared. All my nerves went away when I heard that first cry. In that one second I felt I would do anything for my baby. He was finally here!!! I just burst into tears of happiness and relief.

What has motherhood taught me? Well this is the hardest, most challenging and yet most rewarding job that I’ve ever had. I loved it! It is enjoying life through a million firsts all over again through the eyes of your child. The first smile, the first chuckle, the first sleep through the night, yes this is one of my favorites. Mama needs rest also. Seeing your baby mesmerized by beach waves, birds, and touching the sand for the first time (and trying to eat it too) just makes me look at sand a whole different way. Motherhood is an adventure that I wouldn’t trade for anything!

Thank you Julie for allowing me to hang out with your family that chilly morning and for allowing me to capture memories of Caleb’s first time exploring the beach! Can’t wait to see that little man again 🙂

No #twintuesday today folks! The boys spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday mostly with the grandparents since it was a jammed packed weekend for me. I’m really looking forward to editing and showing you all sneak peeks of what I was up to. This is going to be an exciting week for AV!
