I came home that night after documenting their beautiful wedding to tell my husband D, “That was quite a party. I cried more than I ever have at a wedding, and you know that’s a big deal.” When I shot Elizabeth & Victor’s engagement session earlier this year I had no idea I would be their wedding photographer. That was because I wasn’t taking any bookings at the time. I have always held wedding days with such a standard of professionalism that because I had yet to of trained a new assistant, accepting the responsibility of one was impossible. That was until Liz & Victor insisted. Within a few months everything came together and I am forever grateful they gave me that extra push to follow this venture. I would of missed out on one of the happiest days of my career.
Weddings nowadays are seldom cherished for the honest and simple love a couple shares. Everyone wants to flourish the pretty shiny things and the details as to inspire future brides to plan their future weddings accordingly. The moment I walked in to Elizabeth’s house, with all of her family there, I knew this would be an intimate family gathering. Even if there were 160 guests there. Their wedding was a family affair between people who genuinely would come together joyfully because of this couple’s great love. Everyone was happy, everyone wanted to dance and party. They all came together no matter what side of the family they were from and as of that day, there were all one.
Elizabeth was by far the calmest and most relaxed bride I have yet to meet. As Sam, Jael and I walked around the house photographing the details and little moments they shared I just kept thinking about what it would be like the moment Victor would see her walk down the aisle. Liz was glowing. As her friend, I couldn’t be happier to see her looking and feeling so radiant on this special day. And when he saw her, he gleamed too. When reading their wedding vows, although they were written in paper, it was as if each one was pouring their heart to each other in front all of their family members and most beloved friends. It just shows when you are around them. You don’t need an elaborate explanation as to how they first met or fell in love because they look at each other as if it just happened yesterday. The reception soon followed with tears of joy listening to all the heartfelt words the family exchanged with one another. Overall it seemed I was crying for everything, the vows, the toasts, the first dances… and I sure wasn’t the only one.
Liz & Victor, thank you once again for allowing me to be part of your wedding day. I love you both and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you. I have put together a highlight preview of special moments throughout the wedding. I hope you enjoy reminiscing that special day each time you look through them.
