After Lilly’s birth I visited the hospital one more time before heading back to Miami for a “Welcome to the World” session. A newborn session the day after the baby is born is a great way to document those special memories of having your other children meet and interact with the new baby. Perfect alternative for not having your birth photographed. Although I personally stand for getting every single memory captured, I know there are some moms that would like to keep the camera out of the delivery room. And that’s totally okay, every single one of us feels differently about giving birth. Kristin is kinda like me in this sense that she wanted pictures of everything. The fact I had enough time that visit to stay another day worked out perfectly for us.
Zara at Home
The first time I met up with them to discuss their birth at Starbucks I told her that most of the time my birth session clients become part of the family. It just happens. One minute you’re a stranger and the next you are witnessing one of the most life-changing moments with a family. It happened with them. Maybe it’s how laid back and cool Kayla’s no worries attitude is or the fact that talking to her mom is like chatting with an aunt while she’s making dinner. All I can say is thank you. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms into your lives and allowing me to be part of these special days. Zara is one lucky gal to have all of your love.
Lily & Emily at the park
One of my most favorite things to do is to re-shoot families I’ve worked with in the past. The first time I worked with them I had a bit of an issue with remembering certain items that were quite vital to our shoot. Ahem, batteries to be specific. We then noticed I wasn’t wearing my charm shoes. We rescheduled, and I made sure to never forget those filthy red crocs again. This time I made sure to bring them along and we had the perfect afternoon together. The girls were much older now. They danced and played and even sang Disney’s Frozen’s ‘Let It Go’ with me. It’s amazing to see children reach a comfort where it doesn’t matter anymore whether or not you are photographing them.
awaiting baby Zara
I had such a great morning photographing this beautiful couple at the beach. Kayla and Leonard remind me so much of what my husband and I looked like when I had my baby bump. Zara is quite comfy in her home for now, no plans of evicting the area soon . If only she would give us a heads up as to her arrival. Until then, we will all anxiously wait until it’s time to head to the hospital to meet her. During the session I couldn’t help myself from admiring Kayla’s belly move and wiggle while I was photographing her. It is the coolest thing to watch at this point in her pregnancy. The shapes her belly gets into are phenomenal.
love and mud
The joy I feel when photographing them translates through my lens into my heart like no other. As always Sam steels the show. There wasn’t a time that his eyes weren’t fixed on my camera. When it comes to shy kids and fear of being photographed, Sam has completely overcome his like a pro. Partly because his momma is another photography lover and I’m sure he’s seen a lens in front of his cute little face ever since the day he was born. And Luke, well I can voucher for that since I was the one taking his picture in the delivery room. The baby with buns of steel. (I always remember this when taking pictures of other babies. Haha.
