There are just some sessions that you can’t wait to get home to see. The couple, the lighting, the location and everything else involved in the photo shoot was working so perfectly well that the excitement is real. So real friends, that I was being made fun of at my silly OMG moments while shooting the pictures. I don’t know what happened on this in particular but I loved it more than I have loved shooting anything else lately. This session has inspired me to chase light differently and I can’t wait to share it with you all. Naiby and Nick are expecting their first bundle of joy very soon and on a beautiful morning this past month we got together to document this special time in their lives.

Having the privilege of working with a mom as she experiences all the milestones of her motherhood journey makes me so so happy. So overjoyed with a sense of knowing that this thing I do for a living is what I am meant to do. Capturing moments that later on they can enjoy and that bring them back to that particular time. To each and everyone of you that has brought me back to your family life, thank you. THANK YOU! It humbles me so much that we get to work together again. The following parents are AV veterans since the first time we worked together I was photographing the anticipation of the arrival of their daughter, Lexie. (You can see that session here.) Listening to them speak of all their preparation for the day she would arrive reminded me so much of my own journey into motherhood.

I love those random out of the blue text messages that start with, “Hey Abby, guess what?” and end up being a full blown conversation with CONGRATULATIONS! heart balloon emojis and all because of those two words: I’m PREGNANT! Call it the sappy girl in me but I love pregnancy announcements. Whether a mom is announcing the birth of her first or her sixth child… the expectancy of a new life makes me all excited for them. When I received that message from my muse-person, Yianny ( you might remember her from her fabulous bridal session at the fields and their couples session at the beach ) I was so excited that once again I would be around to capture another special moment in her life.

Baby fever… it’s a real thing. And I hope that I’m not in the process of catching it! With so many little cute ones being born amongst my friends and their friends, and random people Instagram keeps suggesting I follow, it’s no wonder that I start hugging my imaginary belly once again. A couple of weeks ago I had the greatest time photographing soon-to-be parents Meghan and Michael and as I edited these images I couldn’t help but miss that beautiful stage they are now in. Sure there are times that as pregnant women we don’t feel all that beautiful because 1) extra weight 2) hormones discomfort [aka – morning sickness or all day sickness] 3) back pain 4) all other sorts of things that happen to us that make us feel strangers in our own bodies but if your able to set all those things aside,

SUNNY ISLES SUNRISE MATERNITY SESSION

Awaiting Baby Isabella

There is no greater gift or joy than that of a child. I was able to witness the excitement and surreal feeling that first time parents experience when awaiting their little one during this session. There’s something about the way a mom caresses her belly or the way she drifts off in thought whenever I am photographing her that makes these kind of sessions so special. They are an extension of our love for our unborn baby. Soon she will have her precious daughter in her cradling arms but for now we wait… Little Isabella, oh how your parents love you so and you have yet to meet them. After weeks of not shooting because of the weather mostly, it felt so great to be out there in the sand catching a sunrise.
