They light a flame in my heart that burns longer than any feeling I’ve ever felt.

This past week I brought my brother, who is also my assistant, along with me to the park with the boys. It had been way too long since I had stepped in front of the camera with my kids. I’ve let myself get caught up with client meets and sessions a bit more than I would like most days. One of the things I made myself promise was that I’d sacrifice a lot of things once I’d get back to work, but not spending time with my kids. They are my dream come true. I have no words to express just how happy they make me everyday. How there are moments I squeeze them real tight and want to stay that way forever. That heart-string that pulls when I have them close enough to smell that sweet smell that only my babies have. Ugh it’s intoxicating! I think this is only something that other moms would understand.

Among many of the other things I love is the rain, and they’ve already had their fair share of experimenting with momma. Things that my own mother would kill me for, and pretty much all other Cuban mothers… because in our Cuban culture rain makes you sick. So if it’s raining you stay inside because if not you’ll positively die.

D and I love visiting Orlando’s most magical place, Walt Disney World, whenever we can. We escaped three times the year before the boys were born. But anyone that has kids will agree that visiting theme parks with small children is not the same as honeymooning together alone. I really hope this blog serves as a platform to help other moms out there looking for information on raising twins just as much as all my photography work. I remember being a google-aholic those 8 months I was pregnant wanting to soak up all the advice I read about having twins. There’s so much more to being a birth photographer than knowing how to work the camera and the lighting in the room. I don’t feel you don’t have to be a mother to understand, but you do have to have a personal connection with the miracle of life that is happening before you. Birth has to excite you. There has to be something that drives you to the point of wanting to spend hours in a sometimes tense environment with strangers that really wish you were a speck on the wall and nothing more. I was a photographer that was intrigued and marveled by the magic of seeing women give birth to their babies way before I ever thought I would get the chance to do so myself.

Earlier today I asked my better-half to contribute a little bit about the birth story of our babies for the upcoming blog post I am working on. The words my husband put together for this blog left me with such a heavy heart. As if I could possibly love him more. His words shouldn’t be drowned in the sea of a long blog post I’ve prepared, so here they are. I feel every expecting parent considering a birth photographer NEEDS to read this.
