School Yard Exploring

Do you have a place away from home where most of your childhood memories took place? A place you could visit now and tell a story about how you used to love it there and how it remains such a special memory… I have a place like that. It’s this place we recently had our pictures taken at. Growing up I was a very awkward child. Not quite 100% into staying inside playing with my dolls and not a tomboy either. I just liked to climb things. Trees, monkey bars. There used to be two monkey bar sets in this park. I remember hanging off the top upside down until my head hurt. Then there was that tree… a massive beauty you can spot in the pictures.

This past week we took a drive to my family’s farm, a place they acquired in my early teen years and that became our weekend escape. I have so many memories there growing up. It’s where the cuban city girl put on some boots and went mudding. I felt like I could actually breathe out there with no one around. I’m sure everyone that lives in a farm will agree that life is less complicated out there. We had the cows and the goats to take care of, my father loved cutting the grass in the big tractor, I would go around taking pictures of everything… especially when any of our animals had babies. Life was so sweet then. I was so looking forward to having the boys grow up with a weekend escape like that,

Preparing For a Beach Session

Quite often while planning family sessions with other moms their main concern about shooting at the beach is the sand. Will the sand get everywhere? Will it ruin the shot? I always reassure them that it will be part of the experience but then again they just look at me like I’m some weirdo who loves getting dirty. So last week as I was planning with Sam what we would come up with for #twintuesday I thought I’d set the example. Sunrise session at the beach with the kids. Let me be a bit more detailed, sunrise session at 6:30 AM at the beach with one year old twins. I didn’t think we could do it. Especially since my husband wasn’t coming along and I had to get everyone and everything into the car by myself.

THE VIGOAS AT HOME

my one’s’ and only’s’

Dear W & M,

Lately you have got me laughing out loud at all the silly things we do. You both love blowing fart noises in my stomach which means I end up with slobber all up in my belly button. It’s so gross but you both absolutely love it. And I love you, so it happens quite often. You are both sleeping in the same crib nowadays. While you sleep, you hold on to each other. You’ll kiss each other and cuddle as you are trying to fall asleep because you two are the best’est of friends. There is no William without Matthew or Matthew without William. You guys have to be together or you’ll spend the whole time calling out for one another.

beach date with Daddy

As a Miami girl, the beach is home. I think about going to the beach at least three or four times a week. Do I ever make it there that many times, sadly no. It’s such a shame that I coward myself into thinking that it becomes too difficult of a journey by myself with the boys. That’s why whenever anyone is game for the beach, I’m the first to pack our bags and head out. I LOVE THE BEACH. Every single thing about it. It’s the one place that the hot sun and my fainting spells don’t bother me because I can just lay them out. This past week D and I played hooky and took the day off to bring the boys out to the beach.
