Matheson Hammock Park Engagements

Young love, there’s nothing quite like it. Alex and Robert spent the day googling eyeing in front of Sam and I while we explored Matheson Hammock Park. It was one of those days where the sun seemed to shine brighter just for us. We had already had to reschedule our previous appointments because of the typical Miami weather, hurricane-style rain one minute and paradise sun the other. So happy we had the weather on our side! We couldn’t of asked for a better day to shoot at Matheson Hammock Park. This park has so much to do and see that every time I shoot there I discover a new spot I want to visit next. It’s no wonder that every time I am there I bump in to other photographers shooting some kind of session as well.

I believe all love stories are unique and special, true to each couple that experiences their love. Some however, have more substance… the kind of juice that sets them apart. Sometimes it’s the individuals or situations the couple faces; but they all share one thing in common, they move us. They make those that are having a hard time believing in love, believe. They make the ones that have experienced great love relive the early days. They inspire the dreamers to find such love. They are proof that there is such thing as true love.

Michael and Yeliana have this kind of love. The kind that inspires. For such a young couple they have personally encountered so many trials that would make most people sad and lonely.

Sea of Sunflowers

They were on vacation to his parent’s cabin up in Smoky Mountains. It had been her first time visiting although they had been dating for some time. He asked her to accompany him outside to see the stars. Little did she know she would be seeing lots more than just the mountain sky. Not knowing what was going to happen next, she postponed their night walk until she was done watching her show on T.V. Can you imagine how he must of felt? [[ Come on, let’s go outside and see the stars (there’s something QUITE SPECIAL WAITING FOR YOU!). Ten more minutes babe… ]] But he patiently waited for her and when she was ready he brought her to the brand new overlooking porch where below she would see Marry Me spelled out with tea-light candles.

When I was planning how I wanted to post these next set of images I kept thinking that the story I wanted to tell had to come directly from the couple. There’s so much to be said from just looking at their images but I’ve got weak knees for love stories straight from the couple themselves. Years down the road, I love to look back at what was said and what felt like it was the right thing to share. I mean I’m sure you will all agree that Liz and Victor are the cutest and their love is so warm and sweet from just looking at their session, but what else… what made/makes them love one another?

Never underestimate a bride’s initial conversation about what they envision for their engagement session. You can pretty much stick to that first idea she sends your way and dismiss all the other ones that she somehow is just settling with. Every girl who has ever dreamed about getting married has already pictured how it would be. The color of her bridesmaids dresses and which flowers would be on her bouquet.
