MATHESON HAMMOCK PARK MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY

Awaiting baby Amina

A couple months ago I had the privilege of photographing a little girl’s special surprise announcement. Her parents had been saving the news that she was going to be a big sister until our session together. Imani was so thrilled when she found out mommy was expecting a baby and she even said that it was going to be a baby sister. Well, Stephanie… she called it! A new princess will be arriving soon. On one of the coldest mornings we’ve had this winter in South Florida we explored Matheson Hammock Park for their family-maternity session. Every time I visit the park at sunrise I fall more and more in love with spanish moss and how beautifully it photographs hanging on those trees.

SOUTH FLORIDA MOTHERHOOD PHOTOGRAPHER

at home with the Childs

It’s a very special privilege when a mom welcomes you to her home, to her family, to her everyday life and asks you to be her eyes noticing all that makes her heart smile. I feel that it connects us as mothers since I am constantly searching for those moments that I know I would adore if they were my loved ones. These lifestyle sessions I love to do are always different from one another since no two families are the same and I love that about it. Walking in to the session I never know what to expect or what she will have up her sleeve for the littles. This family session that I am about to show you all in particular is a representation of what a Sunday morning would be like in the Child household.

BATON ROUGE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER · TRAVEL SESSION

Awaiting baby Lorelei

In the very beginning of this crew it was just two silly folks. Kristin and Ryan. Although thirteen years have passed by and the house has more than doubled, sometimes when I watch them, and it’s still just Kristin and Ryan. Almost four babies later they look the same and I’m pretty sure that another ten years will go by and I will be writing the same thing. The arrival of baby Lorelei fills their home with so much excitement and wonder. Everyone is wondering who Lorelei will look and be like. The baby of the house… what will she add to this bunch of cute kids? One more baby for Ryan to sling around his back. Another girl to play dress up with and drink pretend tea with.

BATON ROUGE MOTHERHOOD & FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY

a morning with the girls

I don’t know if there will ever be another muse family for me quite like this one. I am definitely hoping for many many more, but then I go back to them. All the way back to them, and I am home.

I walked in the door and right after my hellos and hugs we were already shooting our session. No warm ups. No small talk in order to get comfortable with one another. No trying to make the little one like me… and that’s because working with Kristin and Lilly is like photographing my sister and niece. I walk in and already can imagine the kind of things she wants and all she really needs me for is to hold the camera and snap away all the little moments that will unfold before me.

unbreakable bond

First my mother, forever my friend.”

After spending the afternoon with Robyn and her girls I came home determined that I too must have at least a daughter. Photographing them was such a dream. Such beautiful girls. I was so nervous that the light had totally disappeared that day since the clouds covered the sky and about five minutes before the sun went down, I had my glorious glow moment, the sun stood there long enough for a couple of snaps. Ah I love it when that happens. Their tender love and caresses, Allison’s adoring look towards her mom and Katie’s energetic spirit are sure to make this mini-session the kind that leaves me wanting more.
