The day a woman finds out she’s going to be a mom her life forever changes. Whether she’s expecting a daughter or a son, whether that is her first and only or first of many. She forever walks this earth wondering how her babies are. Even when she’s right there along with them. Karyna will soon join the motherhood clan with a baby of her own, precious little Mila. Oh and what a sweet and great mother she will be. Watching this family rejoice in this special time of their lives brought so much warmth to my heart. Even if at first it didn’t seem I was going to be welcomed into the circle since we all know that once boys reach a certain age women photographers are instantly “uninteresting”.
beach date with Caleb
Some mornings I change my typical routine and wake up extra early to catch a sunrise. I get to witness it’s beauty along with my awesome clients that make the effort to wake up extra early as well. There’s nothing quite like watching a sunrise on the beach here in the east coast of Florida. When Julie approached me to book her family session she knew exactly where she wanted to shoot, at the beach. I think I’ll never grow tired of having those kinds of requests since I LOVE the beach so much. Come time for our session I walked outside my house still pitch dark and there was a cool breeze, something that I wasn’t sure how a baby would handle,

It’s so wonderful when past clients return for sessions in later stages of their children’s lives. Seeing families grow, babies change stages and meeting the little ones after shooting their momma’s maternity pictures is what lifestyle photography for me is all about. Growing with my families brings such warmth and sense of being part of something bigger than just an hour photo shoot. Folks become my friends and every time we get together our bond strengthens.
Months ago I had the pleasure of shooting Melissa’s maternity session at Bill Baggs Cape Florida Park. That session is still one of my go-to when making references to other moms considering beach maternity shoots because I love it so much.
Awaiting Baby Allison
Earlier this week I was so excited to post a bit of a preview of this lovely maternity session that I recently shot of my dear friend Yeily and her family. We decided to shoot their maternity-family photos in the same park where we once did when she was expecting Olivia. It’s been many moons since then and being a parent is no surprise for them anymore. As much as I love photographing newly expecting parents because of their excitement, their curiosity as to what it will be like once they have their baby earth-side, there is something so warm about photographing moms that are expecting another baby. Something about living it a second time around makes you value and appreciate things that you didn’t so the first time around.
this one is for you mommas
The aches and pain of your growing belly are worth it. The stretch marks that have now made their home around your waist and thighs are worth it. That all-day every day nausea is worth it. Sitting in a doctor’s office waiting room for over an hour every month is worth it. Not being able to share a margarita with your girlfriends is worth it. Having moments where you can’t seem to recognize who you are anymore because of the hormones is worth it. Fighting with your husband for no and every apparent reason is worth it. That pain that harbors in your sternum and doesn’t let you fully breathe is worth it. Waking up ten times in the middle of the night to go pee is worth it.
